Education
BS Biology and Psychology, minor: Neuroscience (University of Connecticut, 2011) MS Neuroscience (University of Hartford, 2013) PhD Biomedical Science (University of Connecticut Health Center 2013-present)
Experience
I graduated from the University of Connecticut (Storrs, 2011) with a BS in both Biology and Psychology and with a minor in Neuroscience. Following graduation, I attended the University of Hartford and obtained my Master's in Neuroscience in 2013. While at UHart, I taught over 10 lab courses in Anatomy and Physiology and served as the Biology Department tutor during my tenure in the program. I finished the program with a 4.0, earning the "Outstanding Graduate Student" award and have received outstanding reviews from my students every semester. I am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Connecticut Health Center and I am still a laboratory instructor at the University of Hartford. My experience tutoring for the Biology Department and my 4 years of teaching experience have greatly aided me in building a skill set that greatly benefits my students. I think that I am able to help students understand complex concepts via simple, fun examples and my students agree that this approach has really helped them grasp their science-related material. Additionally, my graduate training has allowed me to really refine my ability to simplify and communicate scientific ideas and concepts, a skill that will directly benefit the students I tutor as they will be able to experience science from a more digestible yet fascinating viewpoint.
